Gtb Opens Account For Me In Error

At 7:26 am today, I received an sms from GTB that reads:

Dear Customer, a current account 01*******2 has been opened . A charge of N1000 + VAT would be debited from your account for your new debit card

I was surprised because I did not apply to GTB for a new Account be it current or savings. As a matter of fact, I already have two accounts with them – Current and Savings. As I was very busy during the day, I could not visit the nearest branch to me.

Then at 13:36 I got another SMS from the bank. This time it reads:

Dear Customer, please ignore the SMS you received earlier from us today. The account was opened in error and will be closed shortly. We sincerely apologize. Thank you.

My problem now is how can an account be opened for me in error when I did not apply for one to be opened in my name. How can I be sure the supposed new account would be closed and not used for illegal; activities. Shouldn’t I officially complain to the bank and ask for a formal letter of apology for record’s sake. Please advise
